Compass will be offering the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Standards) for grades 3-8 and the ITED (Iowa Test of Educational Development) for grades 9-12 this year.  These are well-respected nationally-standardized tests that will meet the requirements for GA law as well as provide parents with an accurate assessment of their children's skills.

The tests measure educational achievement in a variety of subject areas, including language skills (vocabulary, reading, word analysis, spelling), math, social studies, and science.  This can be a good gauge of how your child is doing in certain areas compared to other students throughout the country or compared to his/her own results from previous years.  Or, you may choose to never open the results if you only want to do the test to be in compliance with the law.  The great thing about homeschooling is that parents have the freedom to choose!

While the law requires that homeschooled children take a standardized test every three years, parents are welcome to test more frequently if they choose.

Information About the ITBS at Compass

The ITBS and ITED at Compass are administered by qualified and experienced teachers with other adults onsite to provide assistance as needed.

The testing space is kept quiet to allow the students to do their best on the test.  For May 2021, we will monitor the situation with COVID-19 and implement appropriate measures for safety.  We are waiting until closer to time to determine those measures, but all registrants will be informed of the measures in mid-late April and given the opportunity to continue with the test or withdraw registration for a full refund.

During the course of the testing, opportunities to take breaks for snacks and going outside are provided to help keep the students fresh and focused.

You will need to complete a form for each student.  However, you can submit payment for all students in one transaction.  Test results will be mailed directly to the parents with links and contact information provided if parents want help interpreting the test scores.

You will need to use the form below to register for the ITBS at Compass and then submit payment (Paypal or check/cash at Compass)
