Dance FAQs

When and Where is the Fall Dance?  The fall dance has been scheduled for Saturday, November 2.  The dance will be held at Grace Fellowship, located at 1120 Malcom Bridge Rd. Bogart.

Who can attend?  The fall dance is for registered Compass students who are 13 years or older on or before the date of the dance.  Friends or siblings who do not attend Compass are not permitted to come to the dance.

How do we purchase tickets?  Tickets will be available on the Compass website in October.

What can students expect?  The dance is a fun night for students to spend with their friends.  There will be music, dancing, food, and photos.  The dance will run from 7pm-10pm with a reception time from 6:30-7:00 where students can get pictures with friends.  Throughout the dance, the DJ will play clean (PG) popular dance music, and students will have the opportunity to suggest favorite songs ahead of time through the Compass Student Google Classroom.

While some students may choose to have a date for the dance, that is definitely not the norm.  Most students attend as individuals and spend the evening with their friend groups.   Even if dancing isn't your teen's "thing," they can still come to hang out with friends and have fun.

What should students wear?

  • Guys: slacks, dress shirt, and tie (jackets are optional)

  • Girls: semi-formal dresses or pants suits

We are attaching photos of previous fall semi-formals so you can get a sense of the styles and levels of dressiness.

We know that finding the right outfit can be fun and exciting, and we love to see the teens' styles and personalities shine at the dance.  For the dress code, remember that this is a semi-formal event in a Christian environment.  If you have attended dances with other organizations, they may have had different standards, so please make sure your dress selection fits within the Compass guidelines.  As you help your teen choose their attire, please keep modesty in mind; we want our students to feel confident and move comfortably.  Do not select dresses that show an excessive amount of cleavage, back, body, or leg.  As a minimum standard, please follow these guidelines:

  • Dress lengths (including slits) should reach the middle of the thigh or lower.

  • Dress tops and backs should not be too low or have sheer cutouts/panels on the torso.

  • Strapless and spaghetti strap dresses are acceptable as long as they fit into the standards above.

As you select dance attire, please note that there is a no-glitter policy.  Please do not choose any fabrics that have glitter incorporated into the fabrics.  The glitter sheds and gets stuck in the carpet and chairs, and it does not come out.   Our venue has been very clear that we cannot leave behind a trail of glitter, and we will respect this request.  Clothing with sequins, gems, or other embellishments are typically ok (it's just the tiny glitter that sheds out of the fabric that is the problem).

We will enforce the dress code and no-glitter policy, so if you have any questions about the appropriateness of your teen's attire, feel free to ask us or send us a photo.  We want all of our teens to be able to enjoy the dance.  Please do not put your student in the position of being denied entry into the dance as a result of their clothing. If you have any questions, please ask. We are here to help, and we want all our students to have a wonderful experience at the dance.

We're looking forward to a great event!
