We are so thankful for our parent volunteers. They are vital to helping us run Compass smoothly and safely. Please sign up for the number of volunteer hours that match your children's enrollment. Each volunteer slot has different hours, so make sure to check how many hours the slot you are signing up for has.

If the volunteer slots do not work for you, you can pay the opt out fee in lieu of volunteering.

Compass volunteer responsibilities are based on the number of periods a family is enrolled at Compass. These volunteer hours are per semester. If you cannot volunteer the required number of hours in a semester, you may elect to pay the opt-out fee. Use the above chart to calculate your volunteer hours.

To determine the number of periods enrolled, add up all the periods your children are on campus at Compass during the week (Mondays and Wednesdays). The "enrolled periods" are calculated per family. "Enrolled periods" include classes, study hall, and high school waiting area. You do not need to include lunch in calculating your enrolled periods.

Example: The Smith family has 2 children

Smith child #1 takes a 2-period biology class on Mondays and a 1 period drama class on Wednesdays. Student #1 is enrolled for 3 periods total.
Smith child #2 takes 1 art class, 1 cooking class, and 1 high school waiting area on Wednesdays. Student #2 is enrolled for 3 periods total.
The Smith family has 6 enrolled periods and will be responsible for 6 hours of volunteering for the semester.

Volunteer Roles

Nursery Helper

Helps nursery teacher supervise babies and toddlers in the staff nursery
1 hour

Afternoon Helper

Helps supervise the crosswalk, check attendance folders, end-of-day cleaning.
2 hours

Lunch Helper

Supervise lunch and do a quick clean of the classrooms before the next class.
1 hour

Event Helper

Help at various events that take place outside of Mondays and Wednesdays.
Jobs may include set-up, supervision, and/or clean-up.
Can vary 1-3 hours
