History (MAP)
3rd-8th
Grades
This 45-minute Monday class will cover your child’s core social studies curriculum for the year. Using Story of the World, Volume II and the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia, students will explore the Middle Ages through the Age of the Explorers.
Map work and geography lessons will be incorporated in relation to the historical events studied. In-class activities will emphasize comprehension and include hands-on projects, games, simulations, and other engaging learning experiences, with additional information and context shared throughout each lesson to deepen understanding. At-home work will be assigned and should be completed by students with parental assistance. For students who are not strong readers, parents are encouraged to read chapters aloud at home or use the companion audiobook while students follow along in the text.
Teachers will provide feedback and grades throughout the semester. Final grades will be issued in December and May.
