Builders' Lab
3rd-6th
Grades
Ready to build things that move, fly, launch, and sometimes spectacularly fail? In this hands-on STEM course, students become engineers as they design, build, test, and improve a series of fun projects and challenges.
Our builds will include things like a mousetrap-powered car, balsa wood airplane, balloon-powered boat, and a pinball machine. Along the way, builders will take on classic engineering showdowns like the tallest tower, strongest bridge, most powerful catapult, and the ultimate egg-drop container (protect the egg at all costs!).
Through these projects, students will explore physics concepts such as forces and motion, energy transfer, how to engineer basic structures, and simple electrical circuits. They’ll learn how small design changes can make a big difference—and how every test, win or flop, helps make the next version better.
