Time Travelers Training Camp
Grades
5th-8th
History doesn’t just belong in a textbook or museum—in Time Travelers Training Camp, students step directly into the moments that shaped our world. This interactive, STEAM-infused class transforms time periods and events into immersive training missions, where students experience what day-to-day life was like in each era through real-world challenges, all while learning about the innovations, culture, and ideas that defined it. Instead of simply learning about the past, students engage with it—building, creating, experimenting, and discovering what it was like to live through history’s most exciting moments.
In class, we will do activities like designing and building a model Viking ship while learning early navigation and exploration skills; training as medieval knights by designing armor, investigating castle defense strategies, and learning a code of honor; experiencing daily life in a Civil War camp and solving challenges tied to resource shortages; or cooking and creating using Great Depression-era rations while learning creativity and resilience.
Throughout the year, students will also participate in history-based escape rooms, mystery-solving challenges, simulations and cooperative games where they think critically, work as a team, and apply what they have learned to complete their mission.
By blending history with STEAM activities, this class makes learning active, creative, and meaningful. Students won’t just learn about history—they’ll experience it in ways that make it relevant, memorable, and fun.
