Graphic Design
Grades
9th-12th
This intensive graphic design course is designed for motivated high school students who are ready to work hard, think creatively, and meet real-world expectations. Students will develop strong design skills through hands-on projects using industry-standard software, including Photoshop and Illustrator through Adobe Creative Cloud.
This is not an easy class. Success requires consistent effort, strong time management, and a willingness to work outside of class. Students are expected to meet deadlines, revise their work, and take responsibility for their creative process.
Throughout the semester, students will explore History of Graphic Design, visual communication, layout, typography, color theory, and branding. They will apply these skills by creating professional-level projects, including logos, marketing materials, and complete brand identities. One major focus of the course is designing and developing their own “company,” complete with branding, logos, and promotional content.
Adobe Creative Cloud is required for this course. Students will need their own subscription, which is available at a student rate of $19.99 per month.
By the end of the course, students will have built a strong foundation in graphic design, gained practical real-world experience, and created a portfolio of original work. This class is ideal for students who are serious about design, willing to challenge themselves, and interested in creative careers.
