Calling all artists! Students will be encouraged to try new things as they create a variety of art projects using acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. This class is targeted towards grades 1-4, with projects moving at an appropriate pace to keep students engaged while learning and practicing skills. The inspiration for our painting & craft projects will come from children's literature; for example, we might read the book “Anansi the Spider” by Gerald Mc Dermott and then create an African-inspired painting collage, or we might paint a playful scene based on "Pete the Cat." We will read new stories, practice new skills, and try new projects, so students who have taken the course will still benefit from a second year.
