Abnormal Psychology
The first few weeks of class will be a quick introduction to the subject of Psychology. With a good understanding of where this area of science has evolved from, we will then dive into topics related to various mental health diagnoses, understanding the diagnosis process, and exploring therapy and treatment options. Case studies, research studies, and even analyzing famous characters from literature and movies will all be used in classroom discussions. Class is primarily structured with lecture and discussion. Some weeks we will use a “flipped classroom” approach, where students watch a video or do some reading outside of class time so activities and assignments can be done as a group in class together. Homework for this class will be no more than one hour a week.
